Kampong Mujat longhouse is the home for the Bidayuh tribe (known as the Land Dayaks during the Colonial days). The journey takes about 2-hour’s drive along the Kuching-Serian-Tebakang Mongkos roads of which 80 km is a sealed road and another 20km is a gravel-feeder road. There are over 100 Bidayuh families with a population of more than 800 people, of which 36 families prefer to stay put in the longhouse.
The longhouse in its typical and authentic style is made of hardwood and split bamboo flooring, though modernization takes its course (electricity available). Like any other longhouse, the journey en-route is interesting, passing through the undulating virgin and secondary jungles, native farmlands, paddy fields, pepper orchards and rubber plantation. Lunch is included.
