The Padas River offers a far greater challenge and is highly recommended for the adventurous rafter. Getting there proves quite an adventure too, starting with 1½ hour bus-ride to Beaufort to catch the train that will take you all the way to starting point. You can sight the Padas River whilst aboard this train, giving yourself plenty of opportunity to size-up your challenge. Cutting through boulder strewn gorges, swollen rapids and lowland jungle, the Padas River is a Grade III to IV.
At its best, the river offers a serious challenge to even the most seasoned rafters. Make your assault down from Pangi to Rayoh, where you can finally disembark for a well-deserved barbecue lunch before returning. Barbecue lunch is included.
