This is a very popular day-trip for many tourists to Kota Bharu where you can catch a glimpse into local’s daily life. The town of Kota Bharu is known for its highly skilled artisans and diverse cottage industries.
Visit a batik factory, a kite-making centre and a silver-craft centre where you may see local artisans at work. You will also be introduced to ‘songket’, an intricately woven cloth that requires much skill and artistry. The highlight of tour is the most photographed market in Malaysia, Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah, famous for its local vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, spices and regional delicacies.
Time permitting, visit the Handicraft Village & Craft Museum and learn about the traditional crafts of this region.
