Also known as the Temple of Supreme Bliss, Kek Lok Si Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia and arguably one of the most iconic landmarks in Penang. The centerpiece of the temple is the 7-tiered Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas and adjacent to this imposing edifice is a bronze Statue of Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy), believed to be the tallest in the world.
For a panoramic view of Georgetown and the Straits of Malacca, hop on the funicular train and ride up to the top of Penang Hill, rising spectacularly 830 metres above sea level. It was once a cool hill retreat during the colonial days. Ticket for funicular train is included.
